EP 70 - Erik "Jesus" Coomes

 

Erick “Jesus” Coomes is the bassist, co-founder, and spiritual heartbeat of the band Lettuce. Born and raised in Southern California, \Coomes immersed himself in his native Los Angeles hip-hop scene, and began collaborating with a who’s who of contemporary pop, hip-hop and R&B. “Trouble” by West Coast legend DJ Quik was the first time Coomes heard himself on the radio, later appeared on Eminem’s “Crack a Bottle”, and soon was invited to sessions and brought on full time with the iconic Dr. Dre; Coomes appears on the Compton LP, among other Dr. Dre recordings. For Kanye West, in 2003 Coomes recorded bass (“We Don’t Care”) and both bass and guitar on the mega-hit “All Falls Down.” Coomes performed on Anthony Hamilton’s 2005 LP SoulLife, as well as recordings with DJ Quik, Quincy Jones, Ne-Yo, Shafiq Hussein, Britney Spears, Baby Bash, DJ Hi-Tek, Talib Kweli, Tyrese, The Game, Snoop Dogg, Freeway, Mack 10, Proof, O.C., Anthony Hamilton, Lil’ Kim, DJ Spinna, Truth Hurts, Ras Kass, J-Live, Chingy, Proof, Doe or Die, Myka Nine, among others.
